Patio & Pool Paving

Use patio and pool paving to enhance your whole home and extend your living space into the backyard. The children (and the young at heart!) can play on the green grass, while you entertain your family and friends in style. Patios provide a stable and even surface where you can place your chairs and tables, so that they don’t fall over or make holes in the ground. Guests also prefer patios instead of a lawn (it keeps their clothes and shoes clean). A beautiful patio is a very good solution if you have patches where the grass doesn’t want to grow, e.g. under trees (The trees will provide shade, which will be very much appreciated in summer.)

You can also change your patio into a cabana, gazebo or pergola to impress your guests. (Gazebos are sometimes used as bandstands, very useful if you want to have a big party with a live band). Different types of pavers and materials are available for a patio design that will greatly enhance the overall look and feel of your backyard.

Another type of patio is a covered porch or verandah adjacent to a house, usually at the entrance to the house. It immediately puts your house in a different class. It greatly improves the appearance of your house or mansion. It’s almost a shame not to have one!

Covered verandahs are often found at the back of the house as well, where it is usually called a stoep. It’s the ideal place for a family and their friends to just relax. Add a pizza oven or braai to change it into an entertainment area. You can go one step further and enclose it with glass sliders or fold-away doors, so that you can use it the whole year.

If a terrain is too problematic to install a swimming pool or fish pond so that the top is level with the surroundings, then a possible solution is to combine an elevated patio around a raised pool.

Make your swimming pool safe with paved surroundings. Pool pavers have a durable non-slip surface with high resistance to wear and tear. A non-slip surface is extremely important, because children love to play and run around the pool when they go swimming.

Not only does pool paving make your pool saver, it also forms an integral part of a stunning pool landscape. It creates an enjoyable recreational space, and it can withstand the constant effects of pool waters. (Note: It is important to choose pavers that can withstand constant exposure to chlorinated or salt water.)

Pool paving can take heavy traffic, but not your lawn. A paved pool surround will help to keep bugs out of the water, as well as grass cuttings when your lawn is being mowed. Pool pavers are a very cost-effective way to cover the surrounds of your swimming pool areas. (And of course, the more paved landscaping you have, the more you will save on water and garden maintenance!).
